The Enthusiastic Dog Ladies Story

The Positive Handler began with an “untrainable” Siberian Husky named Akira, who came from a rehome post on social media. At just seven months old, she was unsocialized, scared of her own shadow, and labeled “out of control.” A trusted trainer saw potential and suggested trying Rally, saying, “Give it a shot—you might like it.”

That simple recommendation led to a journey of training, competing, and discovering a deep love for the sport. As Akira’s confidence grew, so did the handling skills that would shape The Positive Handler.

Rally became more than just a sport—it became a passion. That passion led to volunteering at a local nonprofit dog training club, instructing in puppy and Rally classes for two years. Now, as an AKC CGC Evaluator, The Positive Handler continues to support and inspire dog owners, whether online, at local events, or during everyday training sessions.

Encouragement and support are at the heart of The Positive Handler. Every step of the journey matters—from the excitement of earning a title to the tough days in the ring. Whether celebrating a victory or offering a shoulder during setbacks, The Positive Handler is there, cheering every handler and dog on their unique journey together.

The Positive Handler

I started this business to give more resources to people for AKC Rally. That even if there isn’t a class close to where you live, my guidebook can help you on the right path to earning those titles! If you ever see me at a trial or in person, know you are safe to set up near me. That I will always answer your questions regarding rally or the course. With that, I am known to be extremely positive as a handler, it’s where the name of my business came from.

I am The Positive Handler. AKA Suzie, The enthusiastic Dog Lady.

Meet The Dogs

Akira is my nine year old Siberian Husky that started it all. From a scared rescue dog to a Rally Championship. She was my demo dog while I instructed at a non profit dog training club and she helped encourage and inspire my students that their dogs HAVE the potential. She’s retired from sports and is enjoying her chill life with peaceful hikes and a lot of snuggles on the sofa!

Spectre is my two and a half year old Siberian Husky! Spectre not only competes in Rally, and obedience, we show in conformation, and he also is my Service dog. When we aren’t competing we are hiking, bikejoring, and he’s my partner in crime.
